Maintenance of your steam turbine is important to prevent unwanted and costly situations. Preventive opening of the bearing housings and checking of radial and axial bearings, bearing contact pattern, clearances and sealing prevents failure. In addition, a coupling check is performed where it is recalculated and adjusted according to the OEM given pre-stretch.
Steam turbine repair is often unplanned and inconvenient. To solve this quickly and professionally, the rotating equipment engineers of ROTECT are available 24/7.
When overhauling a steam turbine, we go a step further and the heart of the machine will also be opened. By opening the turbine hood and pressure housing, which is usually done using hydraulic torque and tensioning tooling, we gain a view of the steam turbine rotor. This rotor is removed and sent to a specialized workshop for overhaul and balancing. The carriers, the part in which the rotor rotates, are cleaned and inspected.
During assembly, the clearances between carrier and rotor are accurately adjusted according to OEM specifications. Finally, the steam turbine will be aligned using laser optics. This reduces vibration and extends the life of bearings and seals. All the above activities are carried out during an overhaul in addition to the regular maintenance work.
The valve beam or steam valves are also dismantled and overhauled if needed. This can be done on location or, for example, in the customer workshop
All this work is done according to the OEM drawings and clearance tables. If desired, a report will follow after completion of the scope.
